The Breakfast Club!

More than 60 horses and ponies were rescued from a farm in County Antrim at the end of November after being found living in terrible conditions. Redwings were happy to offer veterinary expertise during the rescue and we have offered permanent homes to 23 of those rescued. The ponies have been transported to our Reception Centre in Norfolk and have all been named after breakfast items! 'The Breakfast Club', includes cute names such Waffle and Crumpet, Pancake, Marmalade, Oatmeal and little Jam!

Jam (featured in the photo right) is a Falabella which is a miniature horse and one of the smallest breeds of horse in the world! Adorable
Jam is only 6hh - that’s 60cm tall!!! We think she’s gorgeous!

Four fab new additions to the Redwings Adoption Club!

Exciting news!!! Redwings has added four new adoption stars to the Redwings adoption club and they want to be YOUR friend!  Allow me to introduce them to you…

Meet Rumpel. He was one of over 100 horses and donkeys rescued from Spindles farm in Buckinghamshire in 2008. Many of the horses had no food to eat and were so weak that they were unable to stand. Rumpel has made a full recovery and is now a happy, healthy and very friendly chap. Rumpel lives at Redwings Oxhill in Warwickshire and you can visit him today.

Cheeky Del Boy the donkey came to Redwings with his best friend Rodney the donkey and four other ponies from an animal education centre that sadly had to close down due to the recession.  You can be sure that inquisitive Del Boy and his donkey partner in crime will always be first to the paddock fence for cuddles! You can meet Del Boy and Rodney at Redwings, Ada Cole in Essex.

Victoria was born at Redwings a few days after her mother Mayfair was rescued by the RSPCA along with several other horses all in an appalling condition. Victoria has grown to be a beautiful friendly mare who loves the company of humans, but because her mother was so malnourished, Victoria will never be strong enough to be re-homed and so will live within the Sanctuary at Redwings Caldecott.

Gulliver and his mother Cinders were rescued by the RSPCA when Gulliver was only a few days old. They had been abandoned and left to fend completely for themselves. Cinders was very thin, using the little food that she could find to provide milk for Gulliver and so she became severely malnourished. The RSPCA asked Redwings if both Cinders and Gulliver could have a permanent home within the Sanctuary. Gulliver will live at Redwings Aylsham  - the new site opening in 2012!
